Fiona Blackburn Nov 2020  From Fiona– a message from our Artistic Director, Fiona Blackburn

February, 2021

Dear Malaspina Choir Singers and Friends in the Mid-Island Choral Community,

As the weeks turn into months, and we are still not able to sing together, I hope you may take some comfort knowing that (as Dr. Bonnie Henry said at the beginning of the pandemic) this is not a forever situation. In fact, there is 'choir work' taking place behind-the-scenes so that we are able to start up – like a phoenix from the ashes – as soon as it is safe.

Until then, please consider signing up for our new Take Note monthly newsletter to stay in touch. There, you will find:

  • Plans & Updates – information about what the Executive and I have been doing and updates of meetings and events
  • Links to Performances – educational, inspirational and just plan amusing
  • Memories & Smiles – as of the March newsletter, these images will be imbedded in the newsletter, rather than attached to emails: former concert programmes and other images to make you smile!
  • To sign up, click here

Please visit this website again for updates such as:

  • Resumption of rehearsals (when & where)
  • Prospective concert dates and repertoire for the 2021-2022 season
  • How to join and what to expect when you do!
  • Members may access all the weekly messages and the monthly newsletters in the Members’ Section

As the first little, white snowdrops pop up from the earth, as the days lengthen, as we get closer to getting that very important ‘jab’ in the arm – here is a gospel song lyric from 1905 that we can all sing:

Have courage my friend, and let us carry on.

Though the night is dark … the morning light appears.

The storm is passing over ... Hallelu.

Best as always to you all, Fiona
